Just Around The Matterhorn - Sicker - DAY 17 and 18 - Photo Diary
December 28, 2019
Photos of day 17 and 18 only tell part of the story. It was a difficult, uncomfortable and very sweaty two days for Dan. The weather reflected the mood, with another well timed hotel stay as storms hit the region. With Dan tucked up in bed, it was buffet breakfasts, a lot of yoga and sauna time for me. Trying to give Dan the space he requires when he's sick, on Day 18, the weather cleared slightly allowing me to go for a solo hike up to Rifugio Orionde on the slopes of the Matterhorn (or 'Cervin' as it's known on the Italian side) yet as I got above 3000m the mountains reminded me that the weather can change suddenly as a lightening storm came out of nowhere and that's why there are refuges to shelter at these times - no camera so no photos. I've written a little more than normal because of the lack of photos but this is a brief and rather poor account of these days. Dan's the one who's brilliant with capturing in words the events, the moods and so much more. No physical adventures but still reminding us that everyday is an adventure in one way or another.... Please do take a look at Dan's book "Just Around The Matterhorn" and also let me know and feedback or drop me a comment if you are enjoying these photo diary posts... Would love to hear from you ;-)
