Lying here in the tent in my sleeping bag my overriding feeling is disbelief. Did we really do all that in a day? This morning we woke up late (for hikers anyway) in a big double bed, had a quick swim and packed to leave our room. Then the hotel looked after us by helping us make our own breakfast of a blended salad with ingredients from the bio shop across the road. They were incredibly friendly. Then at around 11 we wandered over the road to collect some healthy hiking food....oh, then we just went and hiked 23km with 1800m of ascent and 550m of descent pretty much with a single stop.
Yet this evening putting up our tent with views over the imposing Mont Blanc looking so gigantic and close we could almost touch it, and then looking through Esther's many photos of the staggering cliffs, rivers, waterfalls, crags, snow piles and ice sheets we've walked past it all seems very surreal.
Like I said, if my legs and back weren't aching so much I'd scarcely believe it.

What an adventure! Good decision to do this. Difficult to live such an experience from a motorhome! Great pics too, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you both. It certainly is a challenge with or without a motorhome and its giving us lots to reflect on. We are still learning a lot about ourselves and what areas of our life need to be stabilised to allow us to thrive. Still a long way to go on the walk though.....
