After 2 years of happiness in Homer we can't stress enough how much we have loved living in her. She was just so perfect for our style of travelling for the past 2 years and if we weren't changing our own travel preferences she would still be perfect. In terms of a compact, coachbuilt motorhome she was as ideal for us and she was so reliable. Easy to drive, comfortable, spacious...... but as I said we'll write more about Homer as a motorhome shortly. After Dan's health scare in 2014, when he was cleared for travel, Homer was the third motorhome we looked at. We'd selected her because at the time we wanted something reliable and that was a good deal. From the minute we set foot inside, we fell in love with her straight away. Within a few weeks we were off on our adventures.

In terms of the process of selling we were really surprised at how easy it all was. We put Homer on ebay and the Caravan Club classifieds just as we were leaving Spain. We were surprised just how many enquiries and offers we got while we were still away and so lined up some viewings before we even set foot in the UK. Staying these past few days in the south at my parents house, Dan was able to give Homer a good clean - inside and out, even getting up on the roof! - and we could empty our possessions ready for the first viewing....which is when we met the lovely couple who went on to buy her. On Sunday, it was a real trip down memory lane for us to see their eyes light up when they saw Homer for the first time, just as ours did 2 years beforehand. After thoroughly showing them round and a test drive, it was minutes before they came into the house and said yes. So after Homer passed her MOT with flying colours on Monday arrangements for collection were made for this morning. They'd even text us to say how over the moon they were to have found Homer. They'd seen the pictures online but as when we'd bought Homer couldn't believe the reality of the fantastic condition she is in.
It had been wonderful for us, being new to motorhoming that David and Denise, who we'd bought Homer from had been so kind, patient and helpful getting us on our way. So it was lovely that this morning that when we collected the couple buying Homer from the nearby train station, they'd bought a bunch of flowers with them for us to say thank you for how smoothly the sale had gone.
Back home it was a little matter of some paperwork and then a handover with a run through of how everything worked. And then a very excited couple left as we waved goodbye. It was a strange feeling - slightly emotional thinking back of the good memories and how well Homer had served us but also happy to know it was going to a wonderful couple who we just know will appreciate her just as much as we did. Plus also a little mix of nerves and excitement at what we're going to do next?!?
Homer - thank you for the memories - you've been our reliable, beautiful, comfy, trusted steed.
So where next for us .....?

ReplyDeleteHi - no you didn't miss anything - it came as a bit of a surprise to us too! As we were coming back to the UK for Dan's brother's wedding and were leaving Spain we thought we'd test out Homer on ebay. After 2 years our travel preferences had changed and we are ready to try a van conversion as our next motorhome. We had loads of enquires and early offers straight away. We still can't believe how quickly it's all gone. The search for Homer II is on!
DeleteYes definitely mixed feelings... but now a few days on it's sinking in and putting together our plans for the next adventure is very exciting... don't worry we will definitely be announcing these plans very soon!
Thanks again for all your supportive message. It means a lot to us to hear from you.

Esther
